Strategic Plans and Quarterly Progress

Each year an operational plan is submitted to the Governor’s Executive Planning Office that outlines goals, strategies, and objective measures that the Department of Mental Health would like to achieve for the Intellectual Disabilities, Mental Illness, and Substance Abuse service divisions. Information, Resource and Referral Links

There is information available on the internet that can assist consumers and families with resources, information, and referral services. Below are a few recommended links.

  • 2-1-1 Connects Alabama - or dial 2-1-1 on your phone to access a database of resources throughout Alabama.

  • Alabama Connects - helps older adults and individuals with disabilities locate services they might need.

  • Disability Resources - links individuals with disabilities to resources for a variety of different services.

  • SAMHSA E-mail updates - allows you to sign up for specific e-mail alerts directly from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to stay informed about helpful publications, initiatives and resources.

  • Family and Consumer Advocacy - connects you with advocacy organizations within the state of Alabama for Intellectual Disabilities, Mental Illness, and Substance Abuse services.

  • Legislative keeps you informed about legislative issues that affect intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and substance abuse.

  • SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery program (SOAR) improves access to disability benefits to those who are homeless. Download SOAR Training Application including Agenda.

  • Alabama Suicide Prevention Task Force - contains crisis center directory, information, resources, and supports for individuals and families at risk of or recovering from suicide.

  • Alabama Returning Veterans - links you to a PDF copy of the Reintegration Action Plan, a resource handbook to assist returning veterans transition back into their civilian community.
