Pharmacy Changes

Alabama Medicaid will implement new prescription limits on October 1, 2013. Due to the nature of the limits and the large number of behavioral health consumers who also have co-occurring chronic medical illnesses, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease, these changes may affect a large number of individuals who receive services from your agency. Clinical and support staff at your agency should be aware of these changes and be prepared to respond rapidly and effectively to any problems related to medication access that may arise during and after the implementation of the prescription limits. A complete overview of the limits may be found on the Alabama Medicaid website under the pharmacy services section.
