The Nurse Delegation Program (NDP) is designed to assure that all programs certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) are compliant with the Alabama Board of Nursing regulations on the administration of medications, and to assure that all residents who receive services in programs certified by ADMH receive appropriate nursing/medical care. The NDP applies to all programs that are certified by the ADMH to provide assistance with medications to persons with serious mental illness, intellectual disabilities or substances abuse. This program includes the following components:

  1. Administrative guidance on the program’s structure and requirements
  2. Educational requirements
  3. Quality assurance monitoring at the program level, and
  4. Certification review by the ADMH Office of Certification
